Sims 3 Custom Content Not Showing Up In Game Mac
Aug 19, 2012 As your game is properly set up to install custom content from.package files, simply put all such a files in your The Sims 3ModsPackage folder and then it is done. To uninstall a package file: Find a file that you want to uninstall in your The Sims 3ModsPackage folder and delete it. Anything else about.package files. Sep 18, 2010 I keep placing custom content that I download in the downloads folder yet it still will not show up in my game. I have enabled my custom content, have all the meshes and I just cannot figure out why this is. When I had my PC I used the sim file maid 2 to install downloads because it.

Sims 3 Custom Content Not Showing Up In Game Mac And Iphone
- edited January 2012The same thing happened to me.... Everything in the dowloads section just vanished!
- edited January 2012I don't quite understand the problem. Did the files disappear from Downloads folder, from the InstalledContent in the launcher, or just from the game itself?
If they're no longer 'InstalledContent' but they are still in the Downloads folder, you can reinstall.
If they're no longer in your Downloads folder and not showing up in game, you need to re-download.
If they're in 'InstalledContent' but not showing up in your game, you need to uninstall and reinstall.
If you're talking about your Mods folder, then I don't know what could be the problem. Unless you changed something (like move your resource.cfg). - edited January 2012yeah same happened to me... it happened since the new update so I'm guessing its something to do with that.
And no, the files are still there and i have tried to reinstall every file.... nothing works. i CANT THE SIMS EVER WORK PROPERLY? - edited January 2012Hey Karin! Its in the install content tab, however its not in the game! I'm sooooo sad because I went on a shopping spree in the store and bought all this custom content! And I've done what it seems to be everything! And I have been on so many sites, but noting helps. I hope it gets fixed, it always seems like something with the Mac sims 3 users.
- edited January 2012This also happens to me. I have some cool things that I really want to show up in my game. The uploader shows that they are downloaded into the game, but once I start playing I only see the regular old stuff.
I get so frustrated because I love the sims 3 and I never get to play. I think its so unfair that these problems don't get handled. I spend money on the sims and even have fun with my game and add cc to it. It's annoying and I told myself I was going to give them a little while longer to get it together but if that doesn't happen then I might have to retire the sims and move on. - edited January 2012Hey Karin! OK. If it's in the 'installed content' tab, I think the best thing to do is first try to uninstall everything and then reinstall it.
If that doesn't work, the more drastic solution:
- drag your 'Electronic Arts/The Sims 3' folder to your desktop
- let the game generate a new one by starting up the launcher (or possibly the game)
Now if you kept your old Sims3Packs in your Downloads folder, move them all from the folder on your desktop to the new folder that was just created. (If for some stupid reason the game didn't create a Downloads folder yet, you can always drag the one from your desktop The Sims 3 folder to your new one...)
If you haven't kept them, you will need to re-download (through Purchase History and from any third party site where you got Sims3Pack content).
Now you can reinstall all your content through the launcher. I usually reinstall in batches of no more than about 50 items, because the launcher sometimes chokes if there's more.
If your cc works now, you can move over the contents of your Save Games, Saved Sims and Library, and if you have one, your Mods folder in its entirety, and you should have your game back.
You might also want to copy over UserPresets.package if you have a lot of preset patterns. - edited January 2012It didn't work and I even moved the sims 3 folder to the desktop and the game made a new folder for itself, like yo said, but it didn't work. I might as well wait for EA to make a patch or something, this is really frustrating!
- edited January 2012You know what?
Why do we have to be tech savvy or a Sims 3 fanatic to fix everything that goes WRONG with the Sims 3/Launcher/etc?
Why can't everyone else who isn't, be allowed to get on with their game and just play it instead of having to learn all these tutorials and become a CC creator just to play their game without a hitch?
I am glad more and more people are coming forward with this dissapearing CC content issue, I had had it for a month and won't be buying any more Store Content until the issue is fixed. It's a shame, I have to let these Daily Deals with stuff on my wishlist at half price pass me by... - edited January 2012Hi guys!
I had the problem with some content, but not all of it.
I had a tshirt that I couldn't find one day, and then i noticed other things that were missing.
I downloaded the latest awesome mod (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15185.0.html)
and then I found everything again.
Try it out, and see if it helps, and please update here if it does, so that others can be helped. - edited January 20120
- edited January 2012This has happened to me also.
My CC was installed and working, the next time I launched the game; the Launcher says the content is installed but it does not appear in the game. The 'Run without custom content box' is not checked. - edited February 2012I am honestly glad I found this topic because I tried every result in google to see if anyone else was having the same problem.
I decided to but things from teh Sims store for the first time, Because some of the things actually looked pretty cool. As much of my money as I spent in the store I would really appreciate having the chance to use them. If it has already been a month I do not understand why it hasn't been working. I am normally not one to complain or even write in forums, So this really bugs me Lol.
I've tried everyone's advice so far in this topic So If anyone else has info please say so - edited February 2012It's great if Awesome Mod does solve your issues, but you have to be aware that this is a *core mod* which changes huge chunks of coding in your game.
Before you try the mod merely to solve a custom content issue, I advise anyone to read up on what the mod is, what it does, how often it has to be updated, etc.
Another thing that's worth a try is removing your The Sims 3 preferences folder, which you can find here:
*YourName*/Library/Preferences/TheSims3 Preferences
If you're not comfortable deleting the folder, just move it to your desktop. The game should generate a new one without problems, though.
No guarantee that it will actually do anything, but it's worth a try... - edited February 2012same here ive tride all of these and still more and nothing has worked and i would really enjoy it if someone could help me and get the right way up
- edited February 2012I'm glad everyone's voicing this out. This is one of the worst patches ever! None of my downloaded CCs are showing up in my game.
Hope they fix this real soon. - edited February 2012Hey - I've got the sporadically disappearing CC thing. It's there, installed in my game, but it doesn't show on the Sim roughly 4 out of 5 loads. So you click the hair and get a bald Sim. I don't know if that's exactly what's wrong with your game, but...you know...even more issues!
This used to be a problem, over a year ago, but EA seemed to have fixed it. Apparently this patch has brought it back.
It's just ridiculous that what seems to be have been a solved issue would re-emerge, and I don't think it speaks well of their patch testing process. If it wasn't for the fact I don't want to lose my current family and I'm pretty sure my save game now can't be put back in without the patch, I would uninstall the whole bloody game and get it back to where it was pre-patch.
Unfortunately EA doesn't seem to give all that much of a 🌺🌺🌺🌺 about Mac user's complaints, but people having new CC issues, you're not alone! - edited February 2012I am so frustrated with this. I ran my game without cc once (not knowing it would take out store content) and ever since I can't get my store content back. I even deleted all my downloads, uninstalled everything, and re-downloaded and reinstalled it and still nothing! I don't have the 'run without cc' box checked, yet my content will not show up in my game!
- edited February 2012After the last few updates, CC hair was showing up just fine for me, and it was a HUGE problem before. I was so relieved when it started working... until this latest update, now it's gone again. I am SO frustrated, this was honestly making me want to get a PC when it was happening in the past, and now the stupid glitch is back! Grah!
- edited February 2012I'm glad I found that I was not the only one having the incredibly frustrating issue of not having the cc work. I'm bummed that it looks like there is nothing I can do about it without a great grasp on computers and the time.
In my case I take the downloaded items and install. It says it was successful but when I go to play, nothing is there. After quiting the game and restarting the launcher the items are no longer installed.
I hope the get this fixed soon. I almost want to stop playing all together until they get it fixed since I had just spent around 2K simpoints at the store too! - edited February 2012I'm having this problem too, but I'm a PC user. I was playing the Sims one night. I saved the game and shut it off. When I reloaded the next morning, having changed NOTHING about the game, all of my CC was gone. It's all in the downloads folder, but if I install it, it says it installed but won't show up. Then, if I go back to my launcher, it's back in the downloads folder! This is so frustrating! A couple of random items and store items are working, but that's it. The Sims never works. I'm about to give up on it, honestly...
I think next weekend I'm just going to uninstall all of the Sims completely and then reinstall. If that doesn't fix it, nothing will. - edited March 2012Having this issue as well. Just did a clean reinstall and update today.
- edited March 2012Got it! Force Sims 3 to recreate your document/electronicsarts/thesims3 folder by either renaming it or deleting it. Move all of the files from your downloads folder to the new downloads folder and start the launcher up in compatibility mode WinXP (Serv 3). Install them as normal and you'll have your stuff.
- edited March 2012My custom content isn't showing up either! It has been 2 months! I've tried everything. I've done several clean installations, I've uninstalled each game and stuff pack and reinstalled them. I've uninstalled each piece of custom content and reinstalled it 5 pieces at a time. Nothing shows up! It's all installed on the launcher. It says its installed but when I go to the game there is nothing. Also, when I say custom content I mostly mean the stuff from the Sims 3 Store. I've spent way to much time and money on this piece of s**t game and company and unfortunately cannot get any of it back! So I will just settle for a game that actually f***ing works! And like I said it's been 2 months! I think that that is plenty long enough to wait for absolutely nothing, not even an apology. I understand that EA is a big company and they probably don't care what we have to say, and they'll probably just continue to grow as a corporation even without my business, but I'm going to say it anyway. EA! Fix your **** software! I'm not a computer genius and I shouldn't have to be one just so I can play a game that I payed good money for. Honestly, I think they're way overpriced. As a Sims player and purchaser for the past 9 years I'm happy to say that I'm done. I'm not going to wreck a $1700 Macbook Pro so that I can play your silly little games. Yea, when I contacted EA about the problem they said that the best thing for me to do would be to uninstall my OS and go back to the OS I had before I updated to OSXLion. Yea, how about instead I just quit putting up with your BS.
FIX THE **** GAME! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET PAYED TO DO! - edited March 2012I'm having the same problem, but I have custom content from Mod The Sims and other sites. Everything was working until I updated the game. Before that, all of my custom content worked perfectly.

This is exactly what has just happened to me. Everything was working just fine, store and non-store CC, until I ran the game ONE TIME with the 'run without CC' box checked in order to try and fix a bug. Ever since then no CC works, including stuff I paid for in the store. No amount of installing and uninstalling has made a difference. Deeply annoyed and upset that, once again, Mac users are being left to their own devices.
